Conflict Resolution

Hi Everyone!

We’ve amended our information regarding ‘Complaint Resolution’ (found in your manuals).  We hope that this document is comprehensive in addressing potential conflict areas that may arise for you as Home Share Providers.  Please click here to view the document and feel free to add it to your existing CCSS Home Share Provider Manual.

CLBC Forum on Ageing

From their website:

South Okanagan CLBC Community Council … Invites you to participate in a discussion about supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families as they age. These discussions will help develop a better understanding of the varying needs, interests, and areas of concern that will impact their lives and help generate ideas on how as a community we can best support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families as they age. Discussions will also explore where partnerships and joint responses can be established to address the needs and interests of ageing people eligible for CLBC services.

Travelling Information

Hi!

We wanted to pass along some information regarding travel and some sites that can help you reduce fair.

“The Disability Travel Card provides identification to a person with a permanent disability, which will allow an adult attendant, travelling with the person with a disability, to travel at no cost.”  (Easter Seals Canada)

“WestJet provides additional seating at no additional charge to guests with a physical or mental disability….”  (WestJet)

I will be sure to add these links on the Resource page of this site as well!

Feedback from the Home Share Provider workshop

Our home share provider workshop was a great day of networking and information sharing on November 4th in Castlegar. We spent the afternoon in a cafe style process talking about 4 areas important to all of us. Click here for a summary and some ‘mind maps’ from the day.

This is important feedback for us as we move the service forward and we endeavour to provide you with the best support we can. Thanks!

Great news!

We are excited to announce that Community Connections was recently awarded the contract to coordinate Home Sharing services in the East Kootenays. Susan Nicholson has been our coordinator in the East Kootenays and has been supporting the caregiver support group and developing and supporting new Home Sharing options for CLBC. Having the agency coordinated Home Sharing contract for the region allows her and the team to continue supporting Home Share providers in the region.
