Shopping Shenanigans

With the holiday season nearly upon us, many turn to shopping for presents and checking out what is new in stores.

Thanks for sharing with us, guys!

These are a few of our favorite things…

Hey everyone, you might remember back in the spring we heard from Josh all about his first time riding a horse

Well, Josh is still at it, and improving his skills each time he goes out!

Way to go, Josh!  What a fantastic way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Josh and his roommate, Neil, also shared some more of their favorite things!  Heading out for a walk, lounging on the grass, and eating dinner out at restaurants all made the list…

Thanks to Josh, Neil, and their team (especially Anshulee) for sharing a few of their favorite things!  It all looks like great fun.  Way to go, guys!

Great News! Comic book author pens “Fire Engine Red”

Most of us have dreams about what we want to be when we grow up.  This is a piece of Great News! about someone we know who is making their dream a reality!

You can check out two feature articles (see below) that were recently published by Castanet and Okanagan Edge about George Michail, who is a local Community Living BC employee who works with adults who have developmental disabilities.

In addition to his work supporting people with disabilities, George is also the author of Fire Engine RedFire Engine Red is a comic book series about a female firefighter – and wow! does this story ever sound neat!  George says the story is “inspired by 80s and 90s action movies” (think Die Hard) but that it’s also “more than just mindless action.”

And the best part?  George is only $800 away from his goal of raising $5,000 through Kickstarter to publish the first issue!

Way to go, George.  We can’t wait to read about Red’s adventures.

This is Josh – and this is Josh’s first time riding on a horse.  This was really exciting for Josh and for everyone around him.  Special thanks to the instructor, who was great keeping the horse very calm.  And a huge thanks to Josh’s team for supporting him with his first ride!

Way to go Josh – this looks like a blast!  We’re looking forward to seeing a lot more pictures as you keep on riding.

Like to ride horses too?  Leave us a comment and tell us where you go to ride!
