Chris Nikic is the very first (hopefully of many more to come) person who lives with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman Triathalon. This puts him in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Way to go Chris! What a trailblazer!
Hi all
Joel and I had a great discussion with the team at CLBC responsible for IncludeMe. We received our package with the data of our results and are happy to report that on the quality of life domains, the people we support are happy and healthy. We are really proud that we improved on almost all of our results from our last (2013-14) survey.
Here are the results of our 2019 survey:

This looks like a great resource for our employees and home share providers. Did you know that National Carers Day in Canada is the first Tuesday in April and that November is Caregivers month?
Cool!
Hi everyone:
Our friend Val H had the best doctor… Jim Noiles. While Jim retired a few years ago, he has continued to stay active and helping others. One of the things he’s done over the years is the MS Bike Ride. He’s on a virtual team this year raising funds to beat Multiple Sclerosis. If you’re interested in donating to the cause, check out the ride through Jim’s fundraising page here.
Best wishes on the ride Jim!
Correct hand washing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection, virus and disease. WorkSafe BC provides a great video on correct hand washing technique. Check it out:
Hi Everyone:
Please add your voice to the direction of Inclusive Housing in BC by completing this survey for the BC Non-Profit Housing Association.
Why it’s important:
BCNPHA and Community Living BC have partnered on a survey to learn more about the housing needs, demands, and preferences of adults with a developmental disability who are living in B.C. While we know there is a need for more affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing for adults with a developmental disability in the province, filling out this survey will help us to better understand and plan for that need.

It is with much sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend Mary Nicholas. Our friendship with Mary started 25 years ago and we have all been blessed to receive her kind and gentle guidance. She has made us better people. We will miss her dearly and will always remember her fondly. There will seldom be a spring breeze that won’t bring her gentle intention in its warm embrace.
Here’s the latest CLBC Newsletter, lots of great stuff to check out.
Hey all:
Check out the poster for the Okanagan Self Advocates Speaking Series. Great topics and an opportunity to learn and have your voice heard.
See ya out there!
