STAY HEALTHY, BE SAFE: keep 6 feet apart!

April is our Health & Safety month each year! As part of our ongoing health and safety series we are looking at ways to STAY HEALTHY, and BE SAFE.

Today, we are looking at a very important way to keep us all healthy and safe: keeping 6 feet apart.

Last year, we posted about how important it is to keep a safe social distance, at least 6 feet away from other people. It can be hard to remember how far away 6 feet is in real life, so here is a video refresher with some familiar objects (and a familiar villain!) to compare:

BE WELL: Mindfulness

Hi everyone, as part of our focus on Health & Safety this month, we wanted to look at ways to support better mental health.

The Government of Canada webpages that have information about coping with COVID-19 suggest mindful activities as one way to help support mental health and wellbeing — even if it starts with just five minutes!

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) website lists apps that can support mental health on this page — they suggest Mindfulness Coach to support mindfulness. Give it a try if you are interested!

BE WELL: Mental Health First Aid

Hi everyone, as part of our focus on Health & Safety this month, we wanted to look at ways to support better mental health.

The Government of Canada webpages have information about how people react differently to stressful situations (like the COVID-19 pandemic). The Mental Health Continuum Model (picture below) helps visualize and explain how important it is to take care of your mental health.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada has a guide to Mental Health First Aid, you can check it out and make your personalized self-care and resilience plan.
