Mental Health Week

Hey everyone, we are marking the end of 2021’s Mental Health Week with this post of resources we found through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA):

As well as other articles published for Mental Health Week, and more resources gathered together by CLBC.

Wellness Together Canada also offers resources tailored to coping with COVID-19. You can find more on their webpage here.

There is also a YouTube version of the Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities virtual course for families and caregivers called “Mental Health for Adults with Developmental Disabilities during COVID-19.” You can find that series of videos here.

Stress Awareness…

April is Stress Awareness month in the UK with the Stress Management Society — check out their awesome website with resources to identify and cope with different kinds of stress, stress guide, and stress test. They have lots of other resources to help explain and understand stress, as well.

BE WELL: Mindfulness

Hi everyone, as part of our focus on Health & Safety this month, we wanted to look at ways to support better mental health.

The Government of Canada webpages that have information about coping with COVID-19 suggest mindful activities as one way to help support mental health and wellbeing — even if it starts with just five minutes!

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) website lists apps that can support mental health on this page — they suggest Mindfulness Coach to support mindfulness. Give it a try if you are interested!

BE WELL: Meditation

BE WELL: Mental Health First Aid

Hi everyone, as part of our focus on Health & Safety this month, we wanted to look at ways to support better mental health.

The Government of Canada webpages have information about how people react differently to stressful situations (like the COVID-19 pandemic). The Mental Health Continuum Model (picture below) helps visualize and explain how important it is to take care of your mental health.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada has a guide to Mental Health First Aid, you can check it out and make your personalized self-care and resilience plan.
